Lake County Opioid Initiative

Lake County State’s Attorney Michael G. Nerheim joined with Chelsea Laliberte, Executive Director of Live4Lali, Bruce Johnson, Chief Executive Officer of NICASA Behavioral Health Services, and Chief George Filenko of the Round Lake Park Police Department to form the Lake County Opioid Initiative in 2013.

The Lake County Opioid Initiative is a county-wide collaborative organization consisting of members from both the public and private sector that includes members of law enforcement, first responders, treatment providers, local hospitals, school districts, faith-based members and government officials. The purpose of the Lake County Opioid Initiative is to develop, implement, evaluate, and sustain a multi-strategy effort to prevent opioid abuse, addiction, overdose, and death.

The Lake County Opioid Initiative has continued to grow over the years, and has become a national model due its revolutionary programs. For more information, here is the Lake County Opioid website at https://www.opioidinitiative.org/.
