Law Enforcement Employees
According to the Unified Crime Reports Program (UCR), "sworn law enforcement officers are individuals who can carry firearms and have a badge; have full arrest powers, and are paid from governmental funds set aside for sworn law enforcement. Civilian law enforcement employees include full-time agency personnel positions such as clerks, radio dispatchers, meter attendants, stenographers, jailers, correctional officers, and mechanics".

According to the Illinois Law Enforcement and Training Standards, "full-time
law enforcement employees are employed by one or more local government
agencies and work more than 1,560 hours in a 12 month period. Part-time
law enforcement employees are employed by one or more local government
agencies, and work 1,560 hours or less in a 12-month period".
Crime Rates
The crime rate decreased in 2010 and increased slightly in 2011.
