The Lake County Division of Transportation is testing new 'Explore Lake County" signs on the North Shore Bike Path between Butterfield and St. Mary's Road - and we want your input! Provide input by exploring the new test section yourself and then completing our interactive survey. Make sure to submit your feedback before the public comment period ends on Friday, Aug. 14.
Wayfinding signage provides information, navigation assistance, and directs path users to nearby town centers, amenities, and more.
The Lake County Division of Transportation (LCDOT) is working on a countywide Bike Path Wayfinding and Signage study. The purpose of the study is to develop a wayfinding strategy and establish guidelines and sign templates to enhance the bikeways in Lake County. Ultimately the goal is to help the public using the bike paths have a better understanding of where they are on the trails and make it easier to find connecting destinations. Eventually this may lead to increased usage of the bike path network in Lake County and encourage people to get out of their cars and use non-motorized transportation options.
The study also incorporates a pilot signage project on the North Shore Bike Path between Butterfield Road and St. Mary’s Road. After the initial test section, the LCDOT plans to phase in signs on other LCDOT paths in the county.
On May 27, LCDOT and its consultant Corbin Design presented wayfinding strategies and sign templates to enhance Lake County bikeways. Watch the meeting.
