Bioterrorism
Know where to go! - (en Espanol) In the case of an illness outbreak or bioterrorism event, you may be asked to visit your local voting site to pick up medicine for your family. During recent months the Health Department has worked with the County Clerk’s office, townships and municipalities to develop a plan that would utilize local voting sites as points of distribution during a public health emergency. By utilizing the voting sites, the population will be spread out to a large number of locations close to home, alleviating possible traffic congestion and reducing the need to travel far. Locate your voting site.

The Health Department has developed both an emergency preparedness plan and a bioterrorism preparedness plan, which allow the health department to move very quickly to identify the emergency or disease, its possible source and to minimize the risk to Lake County's citizens. Although the complete plans are not available to the public, please call the Health Department's Communicable Disease Program at 847.377.8130 to have your questions regarding the preparedness plans answered.

In the event of a Bioterrorist act or other county-wide outbreak of communicable disease, please call the number listed above for important information. In addition, the Health Department / Community Health Center will activate an Information Hotline at 847.377.8350.
